On October 3rd, Germany celebrates its Unity Day, marking the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990. For decades, families and friends were separated by walls, borders, and ideology. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the official reunification a year later became one of the most powerful symbols of freedom and hope in modern history.
