“No” is one of the shortest words in any language, yet one of the hardest to say. It often takes great courage to stay firm, to draw a line, to refuse what compromises one’s dignity or values.
On October 28, 1940, when Greece was faced with an ultimatum from Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, the nation’s response was a resolute “Ohi”, a declaration of the people’s will to stand up for what they believed in.
Today, as Greece celebrates this day with parades, we send our warmest greetings and draw inspiration from the strength, unity, and courage that “Ohi Day” represents!
