CV checklist for beginners

We’ve prepared a checklist for creating a strong CV, especially for starters. No matter your experience level, every CV should have a clear and logical structure. Recruiters have limited time to review applications, so a strong CV makes all the difference.

A strong one should include:

Clear Structure

Your CV should be easy to scan and logically organized. A well-organized structure usually includes:
Contact Information
Profile / About Section
Experience
Skills (including soft)
Tools
Education
Courses and Certifications

Strong Profile

The Profile or About Section is your short professional summary, where in 3-5 lines you explain who you are, what position you are targeting, your key strengths, and your motivation. Basically, this is your “selling statement”.

Experience (if relevant) Counts.

Focus on results and responsibilities, not just tasks.

Skills and Tools aligned with the role

List skills and tools that match the job description. Avoid adding skills just to make the list longer. Relevance is more important than quantity.

Relevant Education and Courses

Include university degree (if applicable), relevant courses, certifications, and online learning programs. Make sure everything listed supports the position you’re applying for.

Real Contact Information

Include contact details you actually check:
Email you read regularly
Phone number you answer
Updated LinkedIn profile

Clear Motivation

A strong CV shows that you understand the position, know what direction you want to grow in, and are genuinely interested in the field. Clarity and motivation of career direction are essential for junior candidates.

Additional Tips:
Keep your CV concise (1 page is usually enough) and avoid long paragraphs.
Avoid generic phrases like “hardworking” without examples.
Tailor your CV to each position.
Check grammar and formatting carefully.

And good luck with your first professional impression!
